Orients students to various aspects of counseling, including the diverse theories it is founded upon, therapeutic interventions used, and types of populations served. Students will be introduced to basic counseling techniques in individual and group counseling and the importance of practitioner self-care and reflection. Students will learn about the counseling discipline, the various views of human nature, and the prominent methods for promoting optimal development in reducing human suffering.
