Explores the historical and theoretical relationships between persuasion and propaganda, as well as the founding and development of public relations. As forms of mass persuasion, propaganda and publicity wield tremendous influence over human beings while walking uneasily among thorny ethical questions and problems. This course considers the commonalities, distinctions, and overlaps from 1900 to the present to make sense of communication on a mass scale.
