Description:
Focuses on various issues related to interpreting for specialized populations and situations. Populations that present unique challenges for sign language interpreters include Deaf individuals who have experienced language deprivation and the use of atypical language. Specialized situations including mental health, medical, legal, vocational rehabilitation settings, working in interpreting teams (Deaf and hearing), and performance/platform interpreting. This course will consist primarily of lectures, discussions, guest speakers, demonstrations, and role-plays.
