This course focuses on developing the studentGCOs competence in performing health/physical assessment across the lifespan. Learning experiences are provided for synthesizing cognitive knowledge with psychomotor skills. Throughout the course emphasis is placed on the importance of communication and observational skills in conducting a holistic assessment for the purpose of developing a thorough understanding of the individual in order to determine appropriate and effective health care, including health promotion strategies across the lifespan. This assessment includes genetic, social, environmental, functional, cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, developmental and comprehensive physical examination.
