This graduate level course examines the history of art therapy through studying its founding members, related disciplines and traditional populations. This is accomplished in a reflective manner to help students relate the history of the profession to current practices in art therapy. Theoretical foundations relating to counseling and consultation in art therapy are explored as they relate to current practices in the profession.
