A practical and useful course for the performer who seeks to effectively, consistently, and safely produce common stage dialects other than Standard American English. This course will build upon concepts acquired in THEA 1010 to expand the students? knowledge of International Phonetic Alphabet to include speech sounds utilized in dialects other than their own. The Estill Voice Model will be utilized for identifying a generalized vocal quality of the dialects under study that is consistent and vocally healthy in production. Application of the speech sounds and qualities to various appropriate texts will further illustrate the acquisition of the dialect under study.
