This class will start with a frank discussion of the social construction of race and the latest scientific data which shows that race is not biological. This class will examine the history of racism from the enlightenment to Apartheid. The course will allow students to learn about how major institutions within the United States show racial bias and how the struggle against racism and racial injustice in recent times is part of a long history.
