Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), is critical to manufacturing, production and many other applications. This course consists of approximately eight hours in the classroom learning the fundamentals of FCAW theory with the balance of time developing hands on skills with practice in the welding lab. The focus will be on learning and practicing proper welding techniques for fillet and groove welds in various positions. Welding safety gear is required and a textbook is highly recommended, especially for students interested in pursing work in the field or further study. Typically welding jobs require training, experience, a sharp eye for detail and a strict adherence to safety and housekeeping rules. This course is open to first time welding students and has no pre-requisites. For students taking this class as their first welding course, learner should plan for the additional expense of purchasing their own welding safety gear and the optional textbook. The required safety gear includes: welding helmet, gloves, jacket and safety glasses.
