Teaches students the fundamentals of Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) theory with the balance of classroom time devoted to the development of hands-on skills with practice occurring in the welding lab. Shield Metal Arc Welding is knows as ??stick?? welding and is critical to construction where portable welding equipment is preferred. Therefore, this course focuses on teaching students and allowing them to practice proper welding techniques for fillet and groove welds in vertical and overhead positions. Required safety gear includes: welding helmet, gloves, jacket and safety glasses Prerequisite: WLDW 009 Welding Fundamentals - SMAW 1
