Focuses on teaching and practicing proper welding techniques for fillet and groove welds, in addition to teaching the fundamentals of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), a.k.a MIG welding, theory with the balance of class time devoted to hands-on GMAW skills in the welding Students are taught that welding jobs require training, experience, a sharp eye for detail and a strict adherence to safety and housekeeping rules. This course is open to first-time welding students and has no pre-requisites. For students taking this class as their first welding course they should plan for the additional expense of purchasing their own welding safety gear and the optional textbook The required safety gear includes: welding helmet, gloves, jacket and safety glasses.
