Institution:
Harrisburg Area Community College-Harrisburg
Subject:
Description:
Prepares police cadets to sit for the 200-question multiple-choice question exam one they have completed the Basic Recruit Curriculum for Municipal Police Officers. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers??? Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) requires that anyone eligible to be certified as a police officer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, must take and pass this examination. This course is designed as a prep course, which focuses on one section of the exam (Laws and Criminal Procedure). Fifty-nine of the 200 questions on the exam come from that section. As such, preparation encompasses three areas that make up Laws and Criminal Procedure: Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Search and Seizure. Part of preparation involves conducting a condensed review, where sample questions have been added to help police cadets brush-up on topics that will be on MPOETC exam. HACC does not know what questions will be asked, but is basing the curriculum on the learning objectives that have been provided by MPOETC to conduct this course.
