This course provides an introduction to rope rescue, basic rope construction, knots, and basic rappelling techniques. Facts about current rope technology and adjunct equipment are combined with practical exercise to demonstrate the use of rope and related equipment in a non-rappelling-type rescue. Students must provide clean leather work gloves, ankle-supporting footwear, helmet with chin strap, safety glasses, and proper dress for all weather conditions. Each student will receive (1) 5.5' x 8mm piece of accessory cord, a 15'x 1" piece of tubular webbing and a Technical Rescue Rigging Guide.
