This course will cover the NFPA 1670 competencies at the technician level for trench excavation and collapse. Topics include: scene size up, hazard recognition and control, soil classification, support operations, shoring of non intersecting and intersecting trenches, installation of supplemental sheeting and shoring, heavy equipment coordination, patient management and termination procedures. Prerequisites: Trench Rescue Awareness Minimum age of student on first day of class: 18
