Description:
Covers the development of global literature from the 1700 to the present, including works from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The importance of history, society, culture, religion, class, and gender is explored along with the interplay of characters, style, structure, tone, and theme. Using a seminar or discussion-based approach, this course encourages independent, creative and critical inquiry and prepares students for the practical application of information by emphasizing effective research strategies and technologies congruent with the field of study. Prerequisite: Completion of all developmental reading and writing courses required as a result of the College Testing and Placement program.
