Description:
Focuses on clinical practice. This clinical experience provides students an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom and in laboratory sessions in a dental office environment. Students are assigned to work in area dental offices two days per week for a total of 224-hours. Students are able to gain additional experience in chairside techniques, dental material manipulation, and patient management at both general and specialty practices. In addition, periodic seminars are provided on campus for students to share experience and to discuss situations and/or problems encountered in the dental office setting. A course fee is required. Enrollment is restricted to students in the Dental Assisting Certificate program. Non-majors need permission of the Program Director. Prerequisite: DA 170, 171, 173, and 175 with grades of C or higher.
