Description:
This course presents the history of people of African descent in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean from 1500 to the present. It also analyzes the major impact of peoples of African descent on the histories and cultures of these regions. This class begins with the arrival of enslaved Africans to the Americas; studies their struggles and final liberation; examines how they maintained their lives post-slavery; as well as explains their modern descendants' embrace of African heritage.
