A geographical exploration and analysis of South and Southwest Asia. A survey overview of the complex physical and human geographies of the region, including demographic transition, gender inequalities, issues of development in the postcolonial global era, religious diversity, the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, US foreign policy toward the region, the exploitation of resources (particularly oil), terrorism, and the rise of radical Islamist movements.
