This course will examine the historical context and legal principles that are the foundation of the legal system in the United States. Differences between the criminal courts at the federal and state level as well as divisions among courts will be discussed. Constitutional rights of both victims and the accused will be reviewed in addition to the responsibilities and duties of key courtroom figures.
