Description:
Instructs students to survey, design, and install photovoltaic solar and battery backup systems for residential and commerical use. Buildings, including their layout designs, are analyzed for proper application of solar and battery technologies. This course also covers solar radiation, installation planning, system configurations, DC and AC circuit integration, battery principles, charge controllers, inverters, power conditioners, sizing calculations and methodologies, mounting considerations, overcurrent protection, grounding and bonding, permitting, inspection, utility interconnection policies, maintenance and troubleshooting, incentives, and cost analysis. A course fee is required. Prerequisite: ELOC 153 with a grade of C or higher.
