This course introduces drug therapy with an emphasis on drug classification and administration safety. It includes drug actions related to body systems, side effects, and adverse reactions. It also introduces the basic concepts of mathematics used in the calculation of drug dosage and the proper administration procedures. Topics include introduction to pharmacology, calculation of dosages, sources and forms of drugs, drug preparation and administration, drug classification, and drug effects of the body system. Note(s): Students must earn a C or higher in all HSC courses in order to graduate from the program.
