This workshop will provide participants with the latest information on asthma and smoking prevention/cessation. Asthma is a growing concern for both parents and teachers. Being able to understand and identify asthma, the pathology and basic mechanisms of asthma, as well as prevention and control techniques is not only important, but potentially life-saving. Unfortunately, secondhand tobacco smoke has been cited as one of several reasons for the development of asthma. Therefore, this workshop will also discuss tobacco-use prevention and cessation techniques.
