The NCTM standards (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) recommend increased attention be given to the instructional practice of using manipulative materials in grades K-4 and using concrete materials in grades 5-8. Teachers will leave this workshop with concrete materials, which they have made to help in teaching the key concepts of elementary school mathematics. They will be instructed on how to make and use the materials most effectively in their classroom. Intended for elementary and middle schoolteachers and administrators, especially those instructing special education students and students who have difficulties in learning/applying mathematics. Recommended for elementary and middle school math educators.
