Description:
Provides the student with a thorough discussion of adult congenital heart defects and cardiac pathologies commonly encountered in the cardiovascular patient with known congenital heart disease. The course emphasizes the student's comprehension of adult congenital defects and then allows them to apply their knowledge in evaluating each pathology comprehensively during an echocardiographic examination. Each examination is reviewed by a cardiologist to ensure that the appropriate assessment of each pathology is in accordance with the standards established by the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE). Signature of the Cardiovascular Technology Program Director is required. Prerequisite: CVT 228 and 230 with grades of C or higher.
