Description:
College Literacy II develops proficiency in integrated and contextualized reading and writing skills and strategies. Topics include reading and writing processes, critical thinking strategies, and recognition and composition of well-developed, coherent, and unified texts. The skills taught include but are not limited to: thesis statement; supporting details; critical reading; documentation; and vocabulary development. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate and apply those skills toward understanding a variety of complex academic and career texts and composing texts, incorporating relevant, valid evidence. Student who pass ENG 095 and ENG 161 with 70% or above may register for ENG 164 - Advanced Composition (if needed for program completion). ENG 095 is taken in conjunction with ENG 161.
