Seminar in Education (Student Teaching) provides students with the opportunity to practice, teach, and it explores approaches to building partnerships for educating children. Candidates develop problem-solving skills by exposing them to challenging situations that require them to negotiate sensitive issues. Opportunities are provided for them to work in schools and communities to develop valuable communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with families with different backgrounds from their own. The application of research skills to develop a better understanding of families and community and to use information to develop family involvement activities and to create supplemental materials for classroom use is also emphasized. Prerequisite: None.
