Description:
Provides students with an in-depth understanding of virtualization and cloud computing concepts through lecture and hands-on lab exercises. This course covers topics that include benefits of virtualization, virtualization terminology, hardware requirements, hardware selection and compatibility, configuration and administration of desktop virtualization, server virtualization, cloud computing, and virtual networking. The course also explores the "As a Service" (aaS) concept such as Infrastructure As A Service (IaaS), Platform As A Service (PaaS) and Software As A Service (SaaS) and the offerings available on common cloud providers. Cloud management and devops techniques are covered as well. Laboratory exercises allow students to use common commercial and freely available virtualization software and common cloud computing providers. A course fee is required. Prerequisite: CNT 120 with a grade of C or higher. Corequisite: CIS 249 or 264; or permission of the Instructor.
