Recent revisions in educational policies and theories, as well as research and legislation in early childhood education and special education require that principals have additional competencies since the principal will assume responsibility for the education of the total school-age population within the schools georgraphic boundaries and possibly for some of the population in the contiguous areas. For these reasons it is necessary that the principal develop skills, knowledge and attitudes which will help him/her perform the duties required in the operation of programs for all.
