Description:
This course provides an overview of Frederick Douglass' perspective on injustice and racial prejudice, which will be examined from his life experience as a former slave who becomes the preeminent voice of the liberation struggle. The historical context of Douglass' life will be compared and contrasted to contemporary issues of race, ethnicity, freedom, and diversity awareness. Douglass' writings and speeches provide the theoretical and methodological framework for studying social activism, human solidarity, freedom, autonomy, equality and racial harmony.
