Description:
This studio course introduces the basic principles and practices of drawing. Emphasis will be on developing the students' ability to draw objectively, and to perceive size, shape, proportion, value, and spatial relationships. A secondary emphasis will be on developing the students' ability to think critically about their drawing and understand drawing in a historical context. The bulk of class sessions will be dedicated to drawing from observation. This activity is supplemented by lectures, slideshows, demonstrations, discussions, and critiques. Minimum of three hours of work outside the classroom is required per week. This is a general education course. It is open to all students except visual art majors. Fine Arts, Communication Design, Art Education and Craft majors are not permitted to enroll in this course.
