Description:
A continuation of the study of thought patterns of American English through contrastive rhetoric in order to further develop the English reading skills of the international students. Skills taught in ESL070 are reviewed. Students learn more advanced skills for critical reading of college-level writing, such as studying denotation and connotation, using inferences from reading to form related ideas, and recognizing the significance of rhetorical organization, including narrative, comparison/contrast, and cause/effect.
