This course is a continuation of Music Theory and Musicking I and introduces the fundamentals of melodic and harmonic composition in the diatonic tonal style. Mastery of basic theoretical analytical techniques, Roman numeral analysis, and figured bass composition leads to a study of two-voice counterpoint and its application in four-voice part writing using tonic and dominant harmonies.
