Students will learn the history for the adoption and implementation of the electronic health record in health care facilities. They will explore the transition from a paper-based record to an electronic health record. Commercial software packages will be used to simulate the use of electronic health records. HIPAA privacy policies for the collection, recording, and release of protected health information will also be addressed.
