This course focuses on consumer health informatics and technology which explores how innovative technology can be used to improve individuals' health within various community settings. Topics include the mode of delivery of consumer health information such as Internet-based technology; shared access to individuals' private health information; quality of consumer health information via social media; and health and information literacy seeking behavior. Finally, various types of innovative technology used within the home environment or within a healthcare setting to support consumers within a home environment will be explored.
