HSC 210 - Medical Coding CPT

Institution:
Pennsylvania Highlands Community College
Subject:
Description:
Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) is a listing of descriptive terms and identifying codes for reporting medical services and procedures performed by physicians. The terminology provides a uniform language that accurately describes medical, surgical, and diagnostic services and thereby provides an effective means for reliable nationwide communication among physicians, patients, and third parties. This course introduces the student to this language and challenges them to integrate the knowledge into the medical chart and therefore document the necessity of payment for the appropriate medical service and/or procedure. NOTE: Students must earn a C grade or higher in all HSC courses in order to graduate from the program.
