This course explores the various forms and genres of literature for children and adolescents. Topics include the history of literature for children, literary and artistic quality, contemporary issues (including multiculturalism and censorship), and techniques for using literature in the early childhood, elementary, and middle-grade classroom. Students will be encouraged to read widely and to explore a variety of works.
