Description:
Provides a survey of children's literature for middle level students and examines the role of motivation in developing lifelong readers. Selection and evaluation criteria for each genre, including multicultural literature, are developed and applied. Classroom applciation and extensions of literature are explored and current issues in the field of literature for middle level learners are examined. Appropriate adaptations for resistant readers, students with exceptional needs, and studentes who are learning English will be explored.
