Description:
This course consists of two components: professional practice experience and classroom sessions. Each week the student will attend a coding proacticum in an affiliated health information department or physician's office to apply knowledge learned in the classroom to code patient health records, using both the ICD-9-CM and CPT coding systems. The classroom sessions will focus on discussion of professional practice assignments and on reviewing materials to help prepare students to take a national coding certifying exam.
