Description:
Broadens the students' perception of an appreciation for the humanities of the world by exploring the contribution of the arts to the individual and to society. Emphasis is given to developments in such areas as the visual, performing, and literary arts arts. Concepts basic to a systematic understanding of the humanities in relation to everyday life are examined through a variety of media and aesthetic experiences. Using a seminar or discussion-based approach, this course encourages independent, creative and critical inquiry and prepares students for the practical application of information by emphasizing effective research strategies and technologies congruent with the field of study. (H&A) Prerequisite: Completion of all developmental reading and writing courses required as a result of the College Testing and Placement Program.
