Description:
An examination of the basic definitions and theories of chemistry. First semester topics include stoichiometry, atomic structure, thermochemistry, molecular bonding, states of matter, solutions, and kinetics. Second semester topics include equilibrium, thermodynamics, nuclear and electro-chemistry, coordination compounds, and a brief introduction to organic chemistry and biochemistry. Inorganic descriptive chemistry is included throughout both courses. Fulfills LAI requirement. Corequisite: MAT 100. Recommended corequisite: MAT 150. This course sequence is offered each academic year.
