This course will provide an understanding of theatrical performance and dramatic literature within the United States and around the world from he 19th Century to the present. Emphasis is placed on how dramatic content and theatrical styles develop out of and react against prior and contemporary artistic movements to reflect the political, social, economic, and cultural trends in each era.
