This course is designed to provide a cohesive overview of the field of dance education. Emphasis is placed on discussions of readings concerning the philosophical and practical approaches to teaching children and adults, aesthetic theory of the major genres of dance, and application of scientific theory of movement to the field of dance. Concepts and issues raised by students are reviewed and/or further discussed by the professor. Integration of courses in motor learning, kinesiology, and pedagogy is a major course objective of this seminar. This course is required for the dance focus.
