This course is an introduction to the field of graphic design. It involves studio inquiry into the nature of visual communication. Topics introduced in the course include typography, layout, symbols, and the client-designer relationship with a focus on the history of graphic design. Other topics relevant to the current state of the graphic design industry will be addressed. The tools, media, techniques, and production processes used in commercial art will be emphasized.
