Description:
Students are introduced to theories and developmental milestones in the acquisition of literacy in children in the early childhood years (birth to age 8). Pedagogy to interrelate and integrate the language arts; reading, writing, listening, and speaking will be a primary focus of this course with emphasis on the use of PA Learning Standards. Instruction to support reading process and classroom environment to meet the emerging literacy needs of children in inclusive classrooms including those of dual language learners will be addressed. Students will participate in 10 hours of systematic participation in a field experience in RACC' Early Learning Center or an approved educational center.
