Uterine development of the embryo is discussed with emphasis on the fetal pulmonary system. The respiratory and circulatory changeover of the neonate at birth is studied. Temperature regulation, signs of respiratory distress, oxygen administration, arterial blood analysis, congenital abnormalities and disease states are studied with respect to the newborn.
