Description:
This course will be an in depth investigation into the Arts of Western Africa. The traditional arts of tribes such as the Dogon, the Assanti, the Yoruba, the Fon, the Mande, the Senufo and others will be examined. We will compare and contrast West Africain religions, cosmology and world view as they are expressed through sculpture, textiles, masks, masquerades, metalwork, other visual arts and proforming.
