Description:
This course provides ultrasound students specializing in vascular ultrasound with foundational knowledge and skills for abdominal/OB/GYN and cardiac sonography. Anatomy and basic physiology of the abdominal organs, female pelvis, pregnancy and heart are reviewed and correlated with their sonographic characteristics. Scanning techniques of the abdominal organs, female pelvis and heart are presented and practiced in the lab. Relevant histological aspects in common pathological conditions of the abdomen and heart are discussed and correlated with their acoustical properties and sonographic characteristics.
