This course is for English as a Second Language (ESL) practitioners in pa1tial requirement for the Pennsylvania Program Specialist-ESL Certificate. This course offers an overview of the basic mechanisms of human language, as well as first and second language acquisition and literacy development. Students will examine the linguistic elements of American English and discover effective methods of instruction and assessment of spoken and written language for use with ESL learners.
