The study of discrete structures. Discussion centers on the following: set theory; functions and relations; counting and discrete probability; introduction to graphs and trees; elements of logic; introduction to proofs, proofs by induc- tion, direct proofs and reductio ad absurdum; recursive equations; Boolean algebra and logic circuits; and applica- tions in computer science. Number theory may also be discussed.
