Description:
3-3-4 Atomic structure, classification of matter, chemical and physical properties of the different states of matter, driving force for chemical reactions, types and geometry of chemical bonds, periodic law, equilibrium chemistry, inorganic chemistry of several groups of elements and an introduction to organic chemistry. Laboratory covers introductory quantitative techniques, equilibrium chemistry and the qualitative analysis of the more important anions and cations. Prerequisites: CHEM 110 (or permission of the Department Head) and MATH 118. CHEM 121 is prerequisite to CHEM 122. For science, engineering pre-professional and Chemical Technology students.
