This is an advanced course intended for networking professionals and students who already grasp the general concepts of data communications and networking, but would like a more detailed understanding of network switching and routing. This course curriculum focuses on switching technologies and router operations that support small-to-medium business networks and includes wireless local area networks (WLANs) and security concepts. Students learn key switching and routing concepts. They will perform basic network configuration and troubleshooting, identify and mitigate LAN switch security threats, and configure & secure a basic WLAN. By the end of this course, students will be able to configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, and WLAN access points and controllers; configure static and floating static routes; configure virtual LANs and inter-VLAN routing in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks; and become familiar with the following protocols: STP, PAGP, LACP, DHCP, HSRP, ARP, and RIP.
